Getting closer

I know we haven't posted in a while but there really isn't anything to report on.

We're selling our "stuff" or mostly giving it away, wrapping things up with our jobs and preparing mentally and spiritually to GO! Sometimes I wake in the middle of the night and can't believe we are really moving to Malawi but it's true, in less than 3 weeks, our feet will hit the ground running in a country half-way around the world from Nebraska.

It is exciting and scary but I know that if the Lord is with us, everything will work out. We are excited to see what plans He has for us and what work he is going to do through us. I am sure we will be even more blessed than the people we will be working with.

Every times I look at pictures of the children in Malawi, I can't help but feel love, excitement and hope for them. Look at these faces -- I can't help but love them. And to think that these children have gone through and seen more in their short time here on earth than most of us in the US will ever go through in our entire lifetimes.

We can't wait to get there and see the kids!!

The date has been set

September 15 -- that's the date we set for changing our lifestyle and making our next trip to Africa.

Now..........on to the daunting tasks of cleaning, packing up some of the house, packing ourselves, retiring, saying "see ya" but not goodbye.

We are excited but not nervous. We know that the Lord is calling us over there and that he will take care of our needs.

We're back but only temporarily

We are back from our trip to Malawi in March, 2008......but only temporarily. We are planning on leaving our jobs, our families, our lives in the US and moving to Blantyre, Malawi in September, 2008.

We looked at the housing situation, looked at vehicles, went to the market and the grocery store and determined that we really are supposed to be in Africa working with Hope Children's Centre in Blantyre. We both felt the call on our initial trip in 2007 but the Lord confirmed it for us during this trip.

We were able to spend lots of time at the orphanage this trip and experienced school with the kids, wash day, cooking, cleaning, playing and worship. It was an awesome time and we have lots of priceless pictures and videos. (Check the link on the left for pictures from our 2008 trip.)

So........now on to planning for our move and getting our affairs in the US in order.

Going back

We will be going back to Malawi in March 2008 so we will have more pictures and more information about the orphanage upon our return.

orphanage kids

This is the reason we left our hearts in Africa. These are children from Hope Children's Centre orphanage in Malawi, Africa.

They are not at the orphanage but gathering to eat lunch after a Pastor and Leader's conference.

There are 105 children currently living at Hope Children's Centre orphanage in Blantyre, Malawi. Our hearts melted when we met the kids. You can't help but love them.
